I don't rely on just one method, I use every resource I can get my hands on - here's a short list of the main ones:-

Face to face lessons at the CLL at Newcastle - by far the most valuable resource!

The Greek audio course at Kypros.org - I stick 5 on a CD and play it continuously in the car. When everything sounds familiar, I move on to the next 5 - I'm onto lessons 40 - 45 at the mo.

VTrain vocabulary trainer - I reckon vocabulary is more important than grammar for communication - although obviously you need a bit of both.

Listening to as much Greek radio and TV on the internet as possible.

and of course:
Going to Greece as often as possible!

I think that's about it!

A multi-approach is definitely more effective. Keep your eyes and ears open for new exciting resources. We are only limited by our imagination  Grin

I loved the part of going to Greece! Face to face lessons would be great...only I live in Lisbon. Kypros is great and I have all the lessons printed, but my computer has no sound now and for the next 6 months. I am loaded with money at the moment. The same goes for Greek radio and Tv. But! I have a dear Greek friend who does everything possible to help me. Friendship is also an excellent way to learn Greek.. Bilingual books or the same books in Greek and any language I know is also extremely useful. And so is being very stubborn...

You can find Greek films on DVD with English and French subtitles in BIBLIAGORA. Here is the link to the relevant page http://www.bibliagora.co.uk/learn_greek_books.php
